Dusk for Mac: App Store Privacy Policy
Effective 23 September 2026. This policy applies only to Dusk for Mac downloaded from the Mac App Store.
The short version
The App Store edition switches your Mac between Light and Dark appearance. It has no accounts, analytics, advertising, or in-app network connection. It does not collect usage data. App downloads and updates are provided by Apple through the App Store.
This policy is separate from the Dusk for Chrome extension and the direct-download Mac edition, which have different features and network behavior. The App Store edition does not install a browser extension.
Information stored on your Mac
Dusk stores its settings locally in a JSON settings file in its own application support folder. These settings include your chosen appearance, schedule, and related app preferences. Dusk does not read or change other apps' files, and does not keep an appearance history or app inventory.
Dusk changes the macOS system appearance. If needed, it uses Apple's System Events through macOS Automation permission for that purpose only. It does not use that permission to control other apps or inspect your files.
Network and hosting
The app itself makes no network connections. Apple handles App Store delivery and updates under Apple's own policies. This support and privacy website is hosted by GitHub Pages. GitHub says it logs visitors' IP addresses for security purposes; see the GitHub Pages information and GitHub General Privacy Statement for details about the host's data practices.
Email support
If you email duskformac@gmail.com, we receive your email address and whatever information you choose to include, and use it to respond to your request. Email is voluntary. We do not receive information through the app itself.
Children
Dusk does not collect information through the app, including from children.
Changes and contact
